On June 1, the first 50Mvar/500kV AC-controlled single-phase shunt reactor in China successfully passed its factory testing at Xi'an Xidian Transformer Co., Ltd. The product exceeded all agreed performance standards and now meets international advanced benchmarks. This development marks a significant milestone for the company and the broader power equipment industry.
The 50Mvar/500kV AC-controlled single-phase shunt reactor is part of a three-unit system designed specifically for the State Grid Corporation’s Zhangzhou 500kV switch station. This project underscores the company’s continued leadership in the domestic reactor manufacturing sector. The reactor offers multiple advantages, including flexible capacity adjustment, rapid response time, no harmonic distortion, low noise levels, and minimal vibration and energy loss. These features make it particularly suitable for long-distance ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission systems, where stability and efficiency are critical.
Its advanced design is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the future development of China’s million-volt UHV power grid, promoting the localization of key electrical equipment. This achievement not only strengthens the company’s reputation but also contributes to the national goal of building a more resilient and efficient power infrastructure.
Xidian Transformer has consistently dominated the domestic market for reactor products. Last year, the company successfully manufactured 136 reactor units, including the country's first 100Mvar/750kV single-phase shunt reactor with independent intellectual property. This year, the company has already scheduled production of 162 units, reflecting strong demand and confidence in its technological capabilities.
