The Sino-foreign joint venture project agreed a solution to the existing problems through design review

On October 8, it was reported that after over a month of collaborative efforts, engineering and technical teams from Armenia's Nayirite Company, China's Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group Corporation, and the Second Design Institute of the Chemical Industry have completed the preliminary review of the basic design documents for the first phase of the 30,000-tonne neoprene rubber technical renovation project under the Asia-Pacific joint venture. The teams from both sides conducted in-depth research on key areas such as process technology, automation, equipment, and electrical systems. They carried out specialized studies on major systems and critical technical challenges, confirmed the technological solutions and major equipment provided by the Asian side, and addressed existing issues and requirements. A consensus was reached on the revised content, marking significant progress in the project. The 30,000-tonne off-site technical transformation project for neoprene rubber in the Central Asia Joint Venture is a strategic combination of China’s resource advantages with advanced technology, skilled labor, and idle equipment from Asia. Both parties have engaged in multiple exchanges, technical negotiations, process implementation, contract signing, and project proposal preparation. All stages, including project proposals, technical discussions, and basic design, have been successfully completed. It is reported that most of the detailed design work for the chloroprene rubber supporting facilities at the Second Design Institute of the Chemical Industry has already been finalized. Nayirite is the largest and most important industrial enterprise in Armenia, historically serving as a key synthetic rubber production base before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It possesses advanced production facilities, strong R&D capabilities, and a wealth of senior technical experts. Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group is a leading Chinese company specializing in chloroprene rubber production, holding over 34% of the domestic market share and exporting a small portion of its products. Neoprene rubber production is highly technically demanding and capital-intensive. Currently, only two companies in China—Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group and Sichuan Changshou Chemical Plant—produce it, with a combined annual capacity of about 40,000 tons. The technology introduced through this project is among the most advanced globally, and it has the potential to transform China’s current small-scale, limited-variety production of chloroprene rubber. The project aims to reduce raw material consumption, enhance product quality, achieve economies of scale, and position China among the world leaders in neoprene rubber manufacturing.
