The XG series crankshaft journal automatic grinding and full CNC equipment, developed by Huazhong University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Hubei Xiaogan E-Jiuzhou CNC Machine Tool Co., Ltd., has successfully passed the scientific and technological achievements appraisal. Experts have recognized this product as a fully independent, domestically developed CNC system designed specifically for crankshaft processing in automotive engines. Compared to similar systems on the market, it demonstrates remarkable precision and technical performance, reaching international advanced standards.
This CNC equipment utilizes high-speed grinding technology with a standard grinding wheel, achieving a grinding speed of 60m/s. This not only improves surface finish but also enhances production efficiency while lowering manufacturing costs. The system also incorporates high-speed plunge grinding technology, optimizing the cutting cycle and process to effectively prevent damage or burning to the crankshaft's end face. In addition, the machine features a high-precision, high-rigidity spindle system that ensures exceptional machining accuracy. The torsional stiffness synchronous transmission mechanism further enhances drive rigidity and stability during operation.
The numerical control equipment is noted for its extremely high phase precision. When machining the crankpin, the machine employs a specially designed baffle mechanism to ensure accurate indexing of the connecting rod, improving reliability. It also uses a three-point self-correcting thimble to enhance workpiece positioning accuracy. To further improve the dressing precision of the grinding wheel and achieve the desired surface topography, an adjustable preloaded gapless guide wheel dresser is integrated into the system.
The successful development and application of this project have provided China’s automotive industry with advanced, state-of-the-art equipment for crankshaft production. It has also contributed significantly to the advancement of specialized grinding technologies used in the manufacturing of engine components. As a result, it has played a vital role in promoting the growth and competitiveness of China’s automobile industry.
