One principle

By using a ring knife to take soil weight containing a certain amount of water, the soil of these soil physical properties is directly calculated. This method does not require oven equipment, has the advantages of saving electricity and saving time, but can also achieve practical and feasible accuracy, so it is more applicable under field working conditions.

Second instrument

(a) ring knife

The volume of soil used for ring knives should be 10.'.o cm3. However, it is difficult for the above requirements to meet the above requirements. According to the measurement result of 19 ring knives, the volume of the ring knife is between 99.14 and 102.86 mm, and the volume of the ring cutter is between 100.1 and 104.23 cm3, which is different from the design requirement.

Therefore, you must use a vernier caliper (accurate to 0.02 mm) to measure the height of the ring cutter 11 from different angles, the inside diameter of the knife edge a, and the blunt mouth inside diameter A 4 to 5 times, respectively, taking the average value and measuring the height of the knife edge h at the same time. Calculate the ring cutter volume V and the ring knife take soil volume. In the design of the ring knife, in order to reduce the friction when the ring knife is driven into the ground, the inner diameter of the shell knife blade is always slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the blunt mouth.

Third, the operation steps

(a) Using a vernier caliper to measure and calculate the ring cutter volume V (cm') and the ring knife's soil intake volume v (cm), accurate to 0.01 cm. At the same time weighing ring knife (with hole bottom cover) weight y (grams), accurate to 0.1 grams.

(2) Place the filter paper in the bottom cover of the perforated ring knife, and then cover the lower end of the ring knife containing the original soil. Set the knife in a thin layer of water to maintain the depth of the water layer about 1 mm.

The ring knife was immersed in a thin layer of water for 12 hours and then removed. The outer wall and bottom of the ring knife were wiped with a dry towel and immediately weighed to the nearest 0.1 g. The ring cutter is then placed back into thin water and weighed every 4 to 6 hours until it reaches constant weight. The weight after constant weight is the total weight of the ring knife, soaked soil, and wet filter paper: (g). The wet filter paper saturated with water is generally 8 grams in weight. The weight of the soil (M) in the ring knife is:

If the water content of the undisturbed soil in the ring cutter is small, swelling may occur during the soaking process, resulting in the soil surface rising above the ring cutter. At this time, the soil sample above the ring knife should be cut off with a soil-cutting knife so that the soil surface is still level with the upper knife of the ring knife. Weighing should be performed after the above operation.

(3) Put the ring knife back into the water tray and add water to the dish so that the surface of the water is flush with the surface of the knife as far as possible. The water must not be allowed to flow over the soil surface of the knife to prevent the closed air chamber inside the soil from increasing.

After the ring cutter is soaked in water for 12 hours, if there are still some small holes on the wet surface of the ring knife and the ring knife cannot be leveled with the ring knife, then a few drops of water should be added to the soil surface with a dropper and the wet soil and the surface of the added water should be made. Grasp with the ring knife. Remove the ring knife quickly and dry the outer wall, but do not dry the bottom of the ring knife. Weigh the ring knife back into the water. Repeat the above operation every 4 to 6 hours and weigh it once until it reaches constant weight. The weight after constant weight is the total weight of ring knife, saturated soil and wet filter paper.
