Asahi Kasei Chemicals raises the operating rate of acrylonitrile plants to meet Asian demand for acrylonitrile

Asahi Kasei Chemicals recently stated that it will increase the operating rate of acrylonitrile units in Japan, South Korea, and Thailand to meet the Asian demand for acrylonitrile. Asahi Kasei has a total production capacity of 950,000 tons/year of acrylonitrile, of which the 300,000 tons/year plant of Tong Suh Petrochemical, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ulsan, South Korea, is operating at full capacity, while Japan Kawasaki has 150,000 tons/year of equipment. The full operation was soon resumed. The 200,000-ton/year plant in Japan’s Shuidao Island is currently operating at full capacity, and another 100,000-ton/year unit was shut down for maintenance in December last year. It is scheduled to be completed in March this year. Restart.
