The cleanup efforts have commenced at the location of the train collision and derailment that took place yesterday in Northwest Indiana. I just had the chance to visit the crash site today, and I managed to capture a few photos of the ongoing operations.
One of the first things you’ll notice is how heavy machinery has been brought in to start clearing sections of the tracks. In the image below, you can see these machines moving in to remove containers and damaged rail cars from the crash site. It’s a slow but necessary process to get everything under control.

Interestingly, the recovery team is using a nearby private farm to stage all their equipment and the damaged rail cars before they’re either removed or demolished. This approach helps keep the immediate area around the crash site clear for further operations.

In another photo, you’ll see a rail car located behind an engine that caught fire during the incident. Workers are now assembling to tackle the debris and begin rebuilding the tracks. It’s a challenging situation, but everyone seems focused on getting things back to normal as quickly as possible.
