IHS: Japanese cars will cut output by 340,000 units after two weeks of earthquake

A report released by IHS Automotive Insight, a global market research agency, predicts that Japan’s auto production will be reduced by 338,000 vehicles (March 11 to March 24) in two weeks.

It is reported that the impact of the current mega earthquake on the production of car companies outside Japan has already been revealed. The performance of the second-largest global car company, General Motors, after relaying Toyota is particularly evident. IHS Automotive Insight also revealed that, under normal circumstances, the Japanese automobile production per day was 37,200 units, and the total output in the two weeks was 521,000 vehicles. Among them, Toyota accounted for 44% of Japanese auto production, followed by Nissan, which accounted for 12% of total production.
