2-Alarm fire in Cicero, 6-1-21

On Tuesday afternoon, multiple calls came in about a fire at 28th and Cicero Avenue. Initially, the address was reported as 28th and Cicero Ave, but later corrected to 4827 and 4829 W. 28th Street. Engine Company 3 arrived first and found heavy fire coming from the rear of a two-and-a-half story wood-frame building with exposure issues. Shortly after, Cicero Fire Company F12 reached the scene and contained the fire. F12 reported that two similar buildings were heavily involved. All three Cicero engines deployed multiple 2.5-inch lines to combat the flames. Truck Company 2 made an aggressive Milwaukee-style roof cut, which helped save the remaining portion of one structure. Truck Company 1 worked on the roof of the adjacent building, making several openings to control the fire. Mutual aid arrived from Berwyn, Stickney, Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Bedford Park, Lyons, and Riverside. The crews on scene worked aggressively from both inside and outside, managing to prevent the fire from spreading further and saving the surrounding structures.
