2-Alarm apartment fire in Woodridge, 5-1-14

At around 11:15 today (May 1, 2014), DuComm dispatched the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District to investigate a possible fire at an apartment building located at 7723 Woodward in Woodridge, Illinois. As units were en route, multiple calls came in — one reported a sparking wire on the roof, and another mentioned visible flames. The first arriving units arrived at 11:19 and immediately noticed heavy smoke coming from the structure. By 11:26, Battalion 89 had requested a box alarm due to heavy fire in the attic of the apartment building. Command then escalated the response by calling for a second alarm and confirmed that there was significant fire on the third floor as well as in the attic of a three-story, 50x125 foot, occupied apartment complex.
