In the world, there are only a few manufacturers such as the United States, Japan, and South Korea. The actual annual production capacity of PIA in the world is less than 600,000 tons. Yanshan Petrochemical’s existing PIA production facility was transformed from a 36,000 tpa refined terephthalic acid (PTA) plant built in 1982. Due to the small size of the original device, high material consumption and high energy consumption, it is difficult to compete with large-scale PTA devices at home and abroad. Yanshan Petrochemical then actively converted production varieties. In 1997, it began to develop and produce PIA technology, after three industrial tests and two In August 1999, the PTA plant was officially converted to PIA, and became the only company in China capable of producing purified isophthalic acid. The product quality reached the international advanced level and became a Beijing branded product, in addition to satisfying domestic demand. , Also exported to India and Europe, recognized by users at home and abroad.
As Yanshan Petrochemical has its own proprietary PIA production technology and has accumulated rich experience in the construction, production and management of PIA plants in the past ten years, it has cultivated a number of technical and operational talents, while the company has the only raw materials in the country. Toluene production equipment is matched with it, forming an advantage of upstream and downstream integrated production from mixed xylene to m-xylene to isophthalic acid. Therefore, the company attached great importance to the further expansion of Yanshan Petrochemical's PIA production capacity. Under the strong support of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Sinopec, Yanshan Petrochemical's universities and design institutes in the United Nations started with basic research and engineering development and completed the reaction of isophthalic acid production, product drying, crystallization, residue treatment, and equipment corrosion. The research project has formed a complete set of technologies with independent intellectual property rights of 50,000 tons/year PIA process design, which provides a guarantee for further technological transformation.
It is reported that the implementation of Yanshan Petrochemical's project is carried out within the existing PIA installation sector and does not occupy new land. At the same time, it also invested more than 10 million yuan for the construction of installation environmental protection facilities to ensure that all environmental protection indicators have reached the national standards.
