Closing a batch of chemical companies, mainly including chemical, pharmaceutical, and dye enterprises newly established and expanded in the Taihu Lake Level 1 Protected Area since October 1, 1996; new and expanded non-implemented environmental impact assessments in the Grade II Reserve and “ "Three simultaneous" systems or chemical, pharmaceutical, and dye enterprises whose pollutants cannot be discharged in a stable manner; enterprises whose discharge water pollutants exceed national or local emission standards or whose odor problems have not been resolved within a fixed period of time.

At the same time, it will comprehensively improve the discharge standards for chemical wastewater, and the provincial environmental protection department will work with the provincial quality supervision authorities to formulate more stringent local discharge standards for the chemical industry as soon as possible.
