Dazhou has a total of 3.8 trillion cubic meters of natural gas resources, and has proven reserves of 500 billion cubic meters. It is hailed by experts as the most promising natural gas field in China after Tarim in Xinjiang and Ordos in Inner Mongolia. At present, the first batch of key projects centering on the development of natural gas resources have been determined, mainly including an annual output of 450,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 800,000 tons of urea projects, 2×350,000 kilowatts of natural gas power generation projects, and an annual output of 200,000 tons of liquefied gas projects. These projects will use high technology to build Dazhou City into a natural gas energy and chemical industry base in western China.
