Norwegian Windy Boats recently launched a 52 Xanthos yacht with three Volvo IPS 600 mainframes. Although a single main engine has been added, the fuel consumption of the boat is 20% lower than that of a two Volvo D-12-800 mainframe yacht at a cruising speed of 30 knots.
The 52 Xanthos is also equipped with two Humphree waveboards. Its excellent performance is mainly due to the high-efficiency power design of the Volvo IPS. This power design combined with the deep V-shaped hull of the boat not only enables the yacht to reach speeds of more than 40 knots, but also reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
