PSA Group's Global Sales Volume Slightly Decreases in China

According to data released by the official website of the PSA Group (Peugeot Citroen Group), PSA Group's global sales in July 2017 reached 226,500 units, an increase of 2.5% from the same period of last year; cumulative sales from January to July reached 1,806,400 units, up 2.3% increase.

PSA Group Performance in China

In the Chinese market, according to the data released by the CLUCC (due to different statistics, the data and the group's official website data are different), the sales of PSA and Dongfeng Motor’s joint venture in China, Shenlong Automobile, continued to decline in July. The Peugeot brand sold a total of 14,804 vehicles, compared with 20,007 units in the same period of last year. The Citroën brand sold 6,300 units last month and sold 14,222 units in the same period last year. Changzhou PSA Peugeot Citroen's luxury car brand DS sold only 184 units last month, compared to 653 units sold in the same period last year. The sales of the three major brands in July showed a sharp decline compared with the same period of last year. However, PSA Group, as a world-renowned automobile manufacturer, has strong capabilities in vehicle design, R&D and manufacturing, and why it appears to be disrespectful in the Chinese market. ?

Comparison of sales volume in major global markets

In the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, PSA Group’s sales in this market totaled 22,100 units in July, which was a decrease of 37.1% compared with the same period of last year. Accumulated sales from January to July reached 174,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of 47.4%. Sales of the three major brands all declined. Among them, the Peugeot brand sold 151,000 units last month, a decrease of 25.7%; Citroen sold 6,400 units, a year-on-year decrease of 54.9%; DS luxury car brand sold only 600 units last month, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6 %.

In the Eurasia market, PSA Group's sales in this market reached 1,000 units in July, an increase of 37.9% compared with the same period of last year; cumulative sales from January to July reached 7,600 units, an increase of 27.8% from the same period last year. Peugeot sold 500 vehicles in the market last month, an increase of 26.2% year-on-year; the Citroen brand also sold 500 vehicles, an increase of 52.6%.

In the European market, PSA Group's sales in this market last month reached a total of 134,500 units, an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period of last year; cumulative sales from January to July reached 1,117,600 units, a slight drop of 0.7% year-on-year. The Peugeot brand sold a total of 80,000 vehicles in the market last month, an increase of 15.1% year-on-year. Citroën sold 51,100 vehicles last month, a slight increase of 2.7% year-on-year; DS sold only 3,300 vehicles in its home market, a decrease of 17.9%.

In the Pacific Market of India, PSA Group sold 1900 vehicles in this market last month, a year-on-year increase of 39.8%; cumulative sales from January to July reached 12,600 units, an increase of 6.4% compared with the same period of last year. The Peugeot brand sold a total of 1,300 units in this market in July, an increase of 78.9% year-on-year; Citroen sold only 600 units last month, an increase of 6.9% compared to the same period last year.

In the Latin American market, the Group’s sales volume in the market last month was 15,500, an increase of 16.6% compared with the same period of last year. From January to July, sales in this market reached 111.9 thousand units, a year-on-year increase of 9.6%. Peugeot brand sold a total of 10,300 vehicles in the market last month, an increase of 17.1%; Citroen sold a total of 5,100 vehicles, an increase of 14%; DS brand sold a total of 200 vehicles

In the Middle East and Africa markets, as the major overseas target market, the Group sold a total of 51,300 vehicles in this market in July, an increase of 9.4% from the same period of last year. In the first seven months of this year, it sold 329,300 units, or an increase of 145.1%. Peugeot's brand performance is more eye-catching, with a total of 48,200 units sold in the previous month, an increase of 14.4% from the same period last year; Citroen and DS sold 3,100 units and 100 units respectively in the previous month, with a drop of 34.2% and 32.5% respectively.

The Peugeot brand sold a total of 155,300 vehicles in the world in July, an increase of 9.6% from the same period of last year. In January-July, it sold 1.1066 million units, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year. The Peugeot brand sold the most in Europe, its home market, and sold 80,000 vehicles last month, while cumulative sales from January to July reached 679,900, a slight increase of 1.4% year-on-year.

The Citroen brand's global sales in July reached 66,900 units, which was 9.8% lower than the same period of last year; cumulative sales from January to July reached 594,300 units, a year-on-year drop of 12%.

The luxury car brand DS sold a total of 4,300 vehicles in the global market last month, down 15.1% from the same period of last year. Accumulated sales from January to July reached 31,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of 44.7%.
