Guangzhou new sanitation vehicle assembly Allison transmission

Guangzhou Conghua Sanitation Team operates and manages more than 90 environmental sanitation vehicles including garbage compression trucks, sprinklers and sweepers. Since Conghua is located in the transitional zone between the Pearl River Delta and the mountains of northern Guangdong, the vehicles face the challenges of running road conditions such as narrow congestion in the downtown area and the curving of non-residential areas.

In early 2016, the team began testing a garbage compression truck equipped with an Allison 3500 automatic transmission . The Allison Transmission's Continuous Power TechnologyTM enables the vehicle to slide from top to bottom, even when the vehicle is fully loaded. In addition, the electronically controlled shift mode allows the driver to grasp the steering wheel with both hands, which improves the handling of the vehicle and enables the driver to face the operational challenges more safely and efficiently.

Compared with fully automated vehicles that are electronically controlled and intelligently shifted according to road conditions, manual sanitation vehicles have obvious human factors. Drivers' misuse can easily cause wear of the transmission components, which creates pressure on vehicle maintenance. The Allison automatic garbage truck operated for more than 18 months without any transmission problems. In addition, the Allison Transmission’s Continuous Power TechnologyTM gives the vehicle better operating efficiency. The automatic garbage truck runs at least one more round trip per day and productivity is improved.

After more than a year and a half of validation and experience with the Allison automatic transmission garbage compression truck, it purchased four more of the sanitation vehicles. Vehicles have outstanding advantages in terms of overall operational safety, cost reduction and ease of handling for drivers to experience.
