According to statistics released by Statistics Canada, the operating rate of Canadian chemical plants in the second quarter of this year was 72.7%, which was 74.7% in the first quarter and 78.8% in the fourth quarter of last year. The average operating rate of plastics and rubber production facilities has dropped from 68.5% in the fourth quarter of last year to 61.6% in the first quarter, and dropped further to 57.4% in the second quarter.
