Lockheed Martin Officially Puts Diamond 3D Printing Technology into R&D

Russia anti-day 3D printing drone engine

It is reported that VIAM recently cooperated with the Russian Defense Advanced Institute of Industry (FPI) to jointly develop a 3D printed drone engine. All parts of this small engine will be manufactured in 3D printing, with an overall weight of only 900 grams and a propulsive force of 75 kilograms. According to VIAM, as long as fine adjustments are made, the engine's propulsion can be increased by 75 kg.

VIAM's General Manager Evgeny Kablov said: "This engine is manufactured by VIAM's latest laser sintering technology and uses a mixture of high-temperature resistant materials and aluminum powder. Through additive manufacturing technology, we have built engines that cannot be achieved with conventional engines. For example, the wall thickness of this engine's combustion chamber is only 0.3mm, and this thickness can only be achieved with 3D printing technology. It is understood that in the development of 3D printing engine, VIAM and FPI are still studying the ability to successfully load this kind of The drone of the engine. 3D printing rocket Electron will be "go up"

Rocket Lab is a New Zealand-based private aerospace company.
