Praxair will supply Lianzhong stainless steel
Under the agreement, Praxair will build and operate a modern air separation plant near Lianzhong Stainless Steel Works, and plans to provide Lianzhong with a pipeline gas supply of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon in the fourth quarter of 2006. The gas supply system will also provide liquid gas products to the local market.
Lianzhong (Guangzhou) Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. was invested and built by Taiwan Huilian Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Taiwan Huilian Steel is the largest steel plant in Southeast Asia. The first phase of Lianzhong Stainless Steel Project is an annual output of 300,000 tons of cold-rolled stainless steel coils. The second phase is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2006. By then, the output of hot-rolled stainless steel coils and stainless steel plates is expected to reach 800,000 tons, which will become the largest stainless steel producer in South China. .
It is understood that after signing the agreement, Praxair will become the largest industrial gas supplier in South China with its six air separation units in Guangdong Province.
