Monel 400 Characteristics 
Monel 400 is a highly corrosion-resistant alloy known for its excellent performance in harsh environments. It offers superior resistance to hydrofluoric acid, fluoride gases, and hot concentrated alkalis. Additionally, it is resistant to neutral solutions, seawater, air, and organic compounds. A key feature is its low susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking and good machinability.

Monel 400 is a high-strength single-phase solid solution.
 
Monel 400 Corrosion Resistance
Monel 400 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in fluoride gases, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and their derivatives. It outperforms copper alloys in seawater corrosion resistance. In acidic media, it shows good resistance in sulfuric acid concentrations below 85%. It is particularly effective against hydrofluoric acid. In water environments, it demonstrates minimal pitting and stress corrosion, with a corrosion rate below 0.025 mm/year. At high temperatures, it maintains a corrosion rate below 0.026 mm/year in steam or air up to 600°C. It also resists ammonia corrosion below 585°C due to its high nickel content.
